Victory in Jacksonville

The month of March brought many windy practice days, as well as a tremendous regatta in Jacksonville, Florida.

Windfoil Midwinters 2022

Following the completion of the US Open Sailing Series Clearwater, there is a break in the schedule until the European Championship in May. The windfoil midwinters in Jacksonville was the perfect regatta to bridge the gap. While there are events happening in Europe, it is not possible to attend due to the rigor of my current classes.

I was eager to compete coming off of my last win at the US Open Sailing Series, and wanted to continue that momentum in Jacksonville. I set the goal to win, and sailed a perfect regatta winning all 11 races. What makes this win even better is that my two team mates, Justin and Maverick (pictured above) took the podium with me, showing the strength of the Clearwater team. The Rudder Club of Jacksonville did a phenomenal job hosting and all of the competitors walked away satisfied.

Training Days

I am happy to say that up to March 26, I have sailed 14 / 26 days of the month. While this is not quite as much as I would prefer, I am happy with this number considering the time I have been putting into school, and coaching.

We have worked a lot on windy board-handling skills as mother nature has been giving us many 15+knot days, which is rare for this time of year. Every session I feel improvement, and am going to continue pushing my limits every time I am out on the water.

There is approximately one month until I leave for Europe to compete in the IQ games, the European Championships, and Hempel World Cup Amsterdam. I am looking for every opportunity possible to get on the water and train leading into these events. Improvement ultimately boils down to 2 things; time on the water, and wanting it.
